ND Film Production Studios- Karjat

In this blog we are going to talk about ND Studio. This studio has got the identity as Bollywood’s first theme park. The studio is located in Karjat. Nitin Chandrakant Desai established this studio. Who was a not only a prominent art director but also a production designer in the Indian film industry. Basically, the studio has been the site for filming numerous Bollywood movies, television shows, and commercials.

Additionally, its infrastructure and facilities make it a preferred choice for filmmakers looking for diverse shooting locations and well-equipped studio spaces. We were on the way to Karjat and discovered this studio. And we decided to visit the set.

Let us know about the owner and the founder of the set Mr. Nitin Desai. In the Indian Film industry, he held great respect. His exceptional talent as an art director and production designer made him renowned. Born on July 15, 1963, in Mumbai, India. Also, Nitin Desai has made significant contributions to Indian cinema through his meticulous craftsmanship and creative vision.

He began his career in the late 1980s and quickly gained recognition for his outstanding work in art direction. His ability to create immersive and visually striking sets has set new benchmarks in Bollywood. Over the years, Nitin Desai has worked on a wide range of projects, especially feature films, television series, commercials, and stage productions, also reality shows. His versatility as a designer allows him to adapt to different genres and time periods evidently.

He has worked with famous filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Subhash Ghai, Ashutosh Gowarikar. Also, He received multiple Film Fares and national film awards for the best art direction.

Location and Establishment

Nitin Desai – ND Film Production Studios is located in Karjat, a town especially known for its scenic beauty and proximity to Mumbai, making it a convenient choice for film shoots. The Studios established a comprehensive infrastructure for film and television production in India. Besides it offers a variety of indoor and outdoor shooting locations, including custom-built sets for different types of productions.

The studio not only includes complex and multiple sound stages, outdoor sets, but also production facilities. Also, this design studio accommodates large-scale productions with ease, offering services ranging from set construction to post-production facilities.

Over the years, Nitin Desai Studios has been the filming location for numerous Bollywood films, television serials, advertisements, and international productions. Eventually, the studio’s versatility and quality have made it a preferred choice among filmmakers.

Our Experience

This was our first visit to the studio and it was amazing. They charge 500/- per person as an entry ticket. We can enter and spend as much time as we want. We wandered through the various sets and took photos, and there are guides who give us information about the filming locations. You can go and visit the sets. Films, including Jodha Akbar, Mangal Pandey, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, were shot here. The visiting hours for people here are 10 am to 6 pm. At the studio, they conduct pre-wedding shoots.
